Each year, nearly 300 million tons of plastic is produced, while 8 million tons of plastic is dumped into our oceans due to poor waste management. Plastic is polluting the ocean and it’s causing a negative impact on wildlife. However, plastic pollution poses as a threat to our society too, in the form of floods and consumption of fish that have ingested plastic. It takes 1,000 years for plastic to decompose, but production of single-use plastic continues because people continue to buy them.
