June is my favorite month because it’s the most beautiful and pleasant time of the year in many parts of the world.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the summer solstice, which marks the first day of summer, falls on June 21 this year and it’s the longest day of the year. The June solstice holds a special place of celebration in many cultures. People all around the world celebrate the day with feasts, picnics, dance and music.

June is the best time to travel to the United Kingdom, Europe or the United States as the oppressive heat of summer is still a couple of months away.

In the wine regions of France, Spain, Italy and other parts of Europe, the threat of overnight frost is gone, and the flowering that have started in May will now be in full bloom.

June in London means the Wimbledon tennis championship, strawberries and cream, the Royal Ascot horse races, the Queen trooping the colours and the Glastonbury Music Festival.

Here’s a poem by F.G. Sanders that says it all:

“Far up in the deep blue sky,
Great white clouds are floating by;
All the world is dressed in green;
Many happy birds are seen,
Roses bright and sunshine clear
Show that lovely June is here!”

Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, enjoy every moment. It’s June! We hope you’ll like the special articles we have prepared for you in this month’s issue.

Best of health,
Romy Sia
